Alright, I did it. I made the blog. We’ll see where this goes.
Kate made me do it, as the title suggests. She put the idea in my head and then said she would read it!
This isn’t a novel, or won’t be, even if I can write a novel.
There will be grammar mistakes. I’m sure I will use phrases that make you batty. Like when people use, “Anyways” instead of “Anyway”. It makes me want to become violent to cute and fluffy things.
Jesus, this is only ninety words. What the hell do I put in this?
EVERYTHING!
So, I’ll guess we’ll start with me. I’m a middle-aged, over-privileged white woman. I was born to a man who had five wives in his lifetime, played the drums, and could charm the pants off you. On the other side of my gene pool is MomLady. She’s one of the most brilliant people you will ever meet. She, like me, doesn’t know stranger danger. She taught me to be kind, stand on my own two feet, and that I can do anything!
Moving on from the parental units, I have one sister I am close with. I have three deceased brothers, one brother I have never met, and a sister I haven’t seen since my father’s funeral in 1996. My seester is one of my favorite people in the universe. She’s married to an epic guy.
Then there is Mr. F. Oh, sigh, I could go on forever about Mr. F. He’s smart, funny, onery, and my biggest supporter. I met him at Gen Con in 2015, and our love story began playing a game called Marvel Legendary.
Let’s see… There are four cats. Yes, four! You leave my crazy cat lady kit alone! It started with Lumos and Nox (a ginger pus and gray, possibly Russian blue pus). Then Ozian the Fearless (who is a big chicken) walked out of a bush at Outback on Labor Day and came right to me. As if I didn’t have enough chaos, we took Circe, our baby girl (who is the size of our 14 lb Toms!). They FOLLOW ME EVERYWHERE.
I haven’t peed alone in our house since 2016. I’m exaggerating but it feels like that some days.
We bought a mcmansion in my hometown last year. It’s lovely and HUGE. The yard is TEENY TINY, but that’s okay, Mr. F doesn’t mow anyway.
Alright, we’re to four hundred words. Maybe I’m not as wordy as I thought. That’s not true. I’m just trying to focus on introductions here. I want to talk about ALL THE THINGS, but I also want to dedicate whole chapters to those things.
Can it be called pantsing if it’s a blog?
I guess we’ll talk about my publishing credentials. I started really writing creatively in 1998 on a chat site called WBS.net (the one owned by Go now) in the Star Wars Cantina, which wasn’t even a role play room. It was a movie chat room we all role played in. When Go destroyed it I bounced from site to site and landed on a site called Ethereal Realms, owned by a French Canadian named Martin. Oh, the stories I wrote there! Ethereal Realms taught me HTML, CSS, and how much I really hate a lot of online communities.
Before you have a heart attack and make more drama for Kate, or me, it’s not the same place! Kate’s series is her own thing and Ethereal Realms Chat was its own thing!
Well, as if that weren’t enough, I made my own site, Infinity Bound and happily wrote there until 2015. Had to take a mental time out and focused on Mr. F. Fast forward to the beginning of COVID-19. I picked up writing again with Mr. F and a select few from Infinity Bound.
That lasted about a year before Mr. F was like, “Woman! I want to do something other than write!”
So I was like, “Fine! Jerk-face. I’ll just publish my stuff online and make millions!”
I started writing in August 2021. Joined Vella in October 2021 (my birthday month) and the rest is history!
I left my shitty job at Vizient Inc. at the end of April 2023. Mr. F has officially assumed sugar daddy duties so I can do fun things like write this blog, and crochet things.
If I could have found a cool way to incorporate the word hooking, or hooker, in the title of this blog, I would have. We’ll see. I may get there yet.
Anyway, I made it! We’re over 600 words and I’m pretty much out of bio material. Not really, but we could write a whole novel on the shenanigans I got into as a teenager/new adult.
